The terrorist attack on Kuje Medium Prison in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, allegedly involved a conspiracy, according to the youth wing of the leading Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Council (OYC).
Given how long the gunmen terrorised the facility without being confronted by security personnel, the group claimed that Buhari’s government must be involved in the terrorist attack.
It was discovered that hundreds of prisoners, including all 64 Boko Haram members held in the prison, were killed, along with 10 inmates and an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In response to the incident, the Ohanaeze Youth Council expressed shock over how the terrorists controlled the nation’s capital city for hours without being confronted by security personnel in a statement signed by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, and the Secretary, Comrade Obinna Achionye.
The group stated that the attack is “clear evidence of a conspiracy” and that bandits have taken over Nigeria, adding that “heads must have to roll.”
The group argued that a panel of inquiries into recent security breaches in the nation be established.
It also bemoaned Nigeria’s lax security measures for allowing terrorists to carry out such a “daunting attack in the Federal Capital Territory for several hours unchallenged.”
“The Federal Government would be complicit if it did not act decisively. There will be no question in the minds of the people as to whether the government has turned the nation over to terrorists and jihadists.
“Foul play cannot be ruled out in what occurred in Kuje prison, which is why we are requesting an independent investigation.”
