President Buhari has executed over 60 projects in the  

Gambo Manzo, the Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs in the office of the vice president says ’s administration has over 60 verifiable projects across the five states of the .

Mr. Manzo stated this on Sunday in Abuja, adding that the projects included completed and ongoing federal road and bridge construction in the zone’s five states.

“In Anambra, the projects include the construction of the Ihiala-Orlu Road in Isseke Town-Amafuo-Ulli with Spur (Ihiala-Orlu-Umuduru Section) and the construction of the Oseakwa Bridge.

“Another project in Ebonyi is the Anambra/Imo Border-Ibinta-Okigwe Road, as well as the rehabilitation of Abakaliki-Afikpo Road Sections I and II.” Sections 1 to 4 of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, as well as Section II of the Oba-Nnewi-Okigwe Road Route, are being rehabilitated.

“Other projects include the rehabilitation of the Old Enugu-Port Harcourt Road (Agbogugu-Abia Border Spur to Mmaku); the rehabilitation of the Nsukka-Obollo-Ikem-Ehamufu-Nkalagu Road in Enugu; the rehabilitation of the Owerri-Umuahia Road Sections I, II, and III Imo/Abia; and the rehabilitation of the Oba-Nnewi-Oki

Following President Buhari’s approval of an N10 billion special intervention fund in 2019, there is also rehabilitation of section II: Anambra/Imo States Border-Ibinta-Okigwe Road; rehabilitation of Bende – Arochukwu – Ohafia Road Section I in Abia; and reconstruction of the Runway of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.” The International Terminal Building is still being upgraded, he said.

“The projects also include the N200 billion Second Niger Bridge, which consists of the Main Bridge across the River Niger and 10 kilometres of a six-lane Expressway in Onitsha and Asaba, both of which are scheduled for completion in 2022,” Mr Manzo added.

“The Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme was established by President Buhari’s Executive Order 7 (signed in 2019).” MTN Nigeria recently announced their plans to rebuild the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

“The MTN Board of Directors has approved MTN’s participation in the Scheme.”

“The N362.5 billion raised in Sovereign Sukuk Bonds since 2017 has been shared equally across the 6 geopolitical zones, implying that the has received slightly more than N60 billion.”

Mr Manzo reassured that the president was committed to completing all ongoing projects in the , and he also urged the people of the region to rally behind Buhari’s administration in its efforts to rebuild the region.
