Alhaji Arzika Tureta, the Sokoto Commissioner for Agriculture, has died.
Tureta died after a long illness at the age of 62.
The deceased passed away in the early hours of Monday at the Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUS), according to the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Muktar Dodo-Iya, who informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto.
Tureta was a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing the Tureta local government region before becoming a federal politician representing the Bodinga/DangeShuni/Tureta Federal Constituency, according to him.
Similarly, the deceased served as commissioner for eight years during former Gov. Aliyu Wamakko’s administration before being reappointed for another six years by Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.
Meanwhile, according to NAN, preparations for his funeral have begun in his hometown of Tureta.
