Gunmen Set Ablaze Imo Police Area Command  

Unknown gunmen razed the Okigwe South Police Area Command in Orieagu, in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, on Monday, raising tensions in the state.

The gunmen opened fire on the cops who questioned them, according to a police officer at the headquarters who talked to our correspondent in the evening.

The invaders freed all the suspects in the cells and carted away weapons,

According to the source, the attackers shot and killed five police officers while torching the security building.

“Our area command headquarters in Okigwe south is on fire,” the source said. Six police officers were killed in the shooting. Before setting fire to the prison, they also released the suspects.”

When contacted, Orlando Ikeokwu, the state’s police spokesperson, said that five police officers were killed and one was missing during the attack.

He revealed that the command had begun an investigation into the attack.
