Bandits have killed 16 worshippers in Niger
Sixteen people were killed by bandits ( Terrorists) while performing morning prayers in a mosque in Ba’are village, Mashegu Local Government Area, Niger State.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, according to our correspondent, who learned of it on Thursday.
On motorcycles, the bandits entered the village and proceeded to the mosque, where they killed and injured worshippers.

Ten more people were injured and are being treated at the Kontagora General Hospital.
In a telephone interview, Niger State Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, confirmed the incident.
He claimed that nine people, not 16, were killed in the attack, and that more security personnel have been dispatched to the area.
Bandits killed 18 worshippers in Maza kuka village of Mashegu Local Government Council a few months ago in a similar incident.

On Tuesday, gunmen suspected of being bandits set a bus ablaze on a road connecting the Sabon Birni Local Government Area and the village of Gidan Bawa in Sokoto State, killing at least 30 passengers.
Bandits have been designated as terrorists by the federal government.
Meanwhile, twenty policemen kidnapped by terrorists during an attack on a police division at Buni Yadi have been rescued by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, the Defence Headquarters has said.
