Abbas Tafida, the Emir of Muri Empire in Taraba State, has given Fulani herdsmen threatening people of the state a 30-day ultimatum to evacuate forests inside the state or face being compelled to do so.
After Eid prayers on Tuesday, the Emir issued the ultimatum.
This comes after an uptick in kidnappings, murders, and attacks in the state by criminals suspected of being herders.

He said that “Fulani herders are responsible for crimes in the state and that they must leave the state’s forests within 30 days or face being driven out.
The Emir, who Spoke in Hausa, asked the Fulani Herdsmen’s leadership to root out the rotten apples among them.
“Our Fulani herdsmen in the forests, you came into this state and we accepted you, so why are you coming to towns and villages to kidnap residents, even raping our women?”
“Because of this never-ending threat, every Fulani herder in this state has been given a thirty-day deadline to leave the woodlands.
“We are weary of having sleepless nights, and the hunger in the country is immense, and we will not allow it to continue,” the Emir stated.
Taraba State, in Nigeria’s northeast, is plagued by terrible crimes ranging from kidnapping to bandit attacks.
