Breaking : Soldier Kills DSS Officer in Ekiti


Pandemonium erupted in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital of Ekiti after an unidentified allegedly killed a Department of State Service () officer over a small disagreement.

Ejes Gist Nigeria has learned that the tragic incident occurred on Friday evening at the prominent KSSD Hotel on NTA road.

The soldier allegedly accosted a young man suspected of being a “Yahoo Boy” (online fraudster) at the hotel, and while apprehending him, the suspect spotted a familiar face, which turned out to be the late DSS officer.

When the dead attempted to interfere in the situation and appealed with the soldier to allow the suspect off the hook, the atmosphere grew tense.

The soldier was reportedly enraged by the claimed intervention and stabbed the DSS agent in the neck, resulting in his death hours later.

He was transported to the state hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries minutes later.

DSS operatives were claimed to have stormed the hotel and apprehended the killer soldier a few minutes later.

ASP Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ekiti Command, said that the victim was slain during an altercation with some soldiers and that the police are investigating the incident.


“We heard that the DSS operative was slain yesterday evening amid a heated confrontation with some soldiers.

“The body of the deceased had been placed in the mortuary. The assailants of the murder had been apprehended.

“Let me also emphasise that our investigators have begun their investigation, and we will get to the bottom of this,” Abutu stated.
