A senior PDP official has defected to the APC.
A senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Hon. Audu Mai Samari Babale, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Babale, a former member of the Yobe State House of Assembly who represented the Goya/Ngeji constituency in the Fika Local Government Area, was received by the State Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Abdu Chilariye, at the request of the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana; Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Right Hon. Ahmad Lawan Mirwa; and Special Adviser on Political and Legislative Matters
The former PDP chieftain, who announced his defection to the APC alongside hundreds of his supporters, told newsmen that he joined the ruling party because of its leadership style under Hon. Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.

In response to the latest development, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State assured the defectors of equal and fair treatment, adding that the state governor is capable of carrying all citizens alone, regardless of political differences.
Ismaila Gadaka, a former member of the National Assembly representing the Fune/Fika Federal Constituency, presented the defectors to the Deputy Governor.
