Senator Joy Emordi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, today defected to the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a brief ceremony in Abuja, Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe State Governor, formally welcomed the senator.
Senator Emordi stated that she believes the APC holds the key to a prosperous and united Nigeria.
She described the APC leadership as sincerely and genuinely committed to a united Nigeria with plans.
The legislator pledged her and her supporters’ allegiance to the party, saying, “I assure the party of my loyalty and support, and to work for the party’s success.”
“The APC-led federal government is working for the South East,” Senator Emordi said, “and this is attracting more PDP members to the APC.”
The Chairman of the CECPC, Mai Mala Buni, expressed her delight at the board member’s decision to contribute to the country’s unity.
“For the political stability and national unity of our dear country, we must join hands,” he said.
Senator Emordi’s and other prominent politicians from the South East joining the APC, according to Governor Buni, will promote national unity.
“The South East is a powerful political bloc that is critical to the country’s unity; this will undoubtedly contribute to national cohesion,” the Chairman added.
