Osun Records Five Cases Of COVID-19 B117 Strain 

Coronavirus Osun State has announced the discovery of five cases of the deadly B117 strain of COVID-19 in the state, according to a report by The Nation.

In the United Kingdom, the B117 strain of COVID-19 was first recorded.

This comes barely five days after Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, announced that four COVID-19 B117 strain cases have been reported in Nigeria.

In a public announcement on Sunday evening, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, confirmed the discovery of COVID-19.

According to the commissioner, this new strain spreads quicker and kills faster.

“If it continues to grow, more people will become vulnerable and more endangered by those with underlying diseases,” she said, adding that the government is extremely concerned about the days ahead because of the continued disregard and defiance of the state’s security protocols.

We can’t keep on acting like COVID-19 isn’t real. It is not just a sad reality, but one with this more deadly strain that has changed the momentum.

“By complying with all the non-pharmaceutical protocols outlined by the government, citizens are required to scale up their personal responsibility for safety to avoid tragic consequences,” she added.
