Hoodlums have destroyed two mosques, looted 14 shops, and burned them down in the Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State’s building materials market.
A general commodity section of the market includes vegetables.
Dalyop Pwasa, the state’s chairman of the Vegetable Traders Association, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it is true that some people broke into our market, stole items, and set fire to 14 shops.
Pwasa added, “They have also destroyed two mosques in the market.”
Despite the curfew, the two mosques were completely demolished, according to Fodio Umar, the secretary of the market association.
He stated, “It has been confirmed that some miscreants demolished the two mosques in our market.”
The demolition began on Wednesday and ended on Thursday, and the mosques were completely demolished down to the foundation level.”
They also burgled their stores, according to Umar, and set many of them on fire.
According to him, the police area command in Sabon Barki received reports and ordered the two mosque Imams to report to the station.
“Due to the curfew, we have been unable to inspect the extent of the damage to our property. There was only our chairman present.
“Dalyop Pwasa has been putting forth his best effort. He mobilises trucks to remove a large number of our goods from the market.
“He was the one who summoned firefighters to put out the fire,” he added.
It was also gathered that some Churches were also set ablaze…
