The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set new general election dates for 2023.
The commission’s National Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, announced this at a press conference in Abuja, the Federal capital.

President and National Assembly elections will now take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, with governorship and state house of assembly elections taking place on March 11, 2023, according to Yakubu.
The new date was set to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Laws, which require that election notices be published at least 260 days before the elections.

The INEC chairman also stated that the Electoral Guidelines will be released in due time.
