A local passenger boat travelling from Port Harcourt to Bonny in Rivers State was reportedly shot at by an unidentified helicopter.
There are concerns that there will be casualties, as some of the passengers have been severely injured and rushed to the hospital.

At least two persons have been confirmed dead and many injured in a shooting that occured along Bonny River at Dutch Island in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State
While expressing his shock at the incident, he explained that the boat was transporting passengers and food.
“A chopper or, as I’ll call it, a flight helicopter, just came behind the local boat that just left here to Bonny, within the Treasure Island area, and started shooting at the wooden boat.

“According to the information we received from a boat driver, the boat was carrying passengers. Foodstuffs like garri, rice, and other items were also on board.
“Everyone knows that route is used to transport food to Bonny. “On the boat, some people died,” he claimed.
When contacted, Nnamdi Omoni, a spokesman for the state Police Command, said he hadn’t received the report yet and asked our correspondent to call back later.
As of the time of filing this report, Charles Ekeocha, spokesman for the Nigerian Army’s 6th Division, did not return calls from our correspondent, as did his counterpart in the Nigerian Air Force’s Port Harcourt.
