Mr Eugene Edeoga, a younger brother of Enugu State Commissioner for Environment, Hon Chijioke Edeoga, has been kidnapped along with his wife and child.
On Saturday night, January 1, 2022, they were kidnapped inside their house at Eke Market in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the state.
Chief Godswill Ndukwe, a community leader, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, saying the Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into the incident.
“Eha-Amufu is currently in turmoil since the information of the abduction filtered into the air on Saturday evening,” Ndukwe said, adding that he received the report of their abduction around 8 p.m. The most disturbing aspect of this kidnapping is that they were kidnapped from inside their own home.
“This was the second scenario in which kidnappers broke into their victims’ homes and kidnapped them. The first was the kidnapping of Mr Sunday, a.k.a Sharia, the chairman of the Agu-Amede community, in November of last year.
“Unfortunately, no fewer than ten people had been kidnapped since the holiday season began before this incident. They (kidnappers) began with the abduction of a Catholic priest from the Ebo Community. Three people in a tricycle were abducted a few days later, and five more were abducted last week along the Eha-Amufu-Ikem Road.”
As of press time, the Enugu State Police Command had yet to comment on the incident.
Their kidnapping comes just seven days after five people were kidnapped along the Eha-Amufu-Agu-Amede-Ikem-Ubolo-Afor Road.
