Chief Donatus Okereke, the of Ifon in the Ose local government, is said to have been kidnapped by gunmen.

The kidnapping happened near where the late Oluifon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi, was killed by unidentified gunmen.

Chief Okereke, the was kidnapped while returning from a quarry site on Monday morning.

Olaniyi Eni Olotu, an Ifon community leader who confirmed the kidnapping, said empty bullet shells were discovered near Chief Okereke’s car.

The kidnappers were also suspected of taking large sums of money from the victim’s vehicle.

“As soon as the Regent of Ifon received word of his kidnapping, he swung into action and contacted the police as well as the Amotekun corps,” Olotu said.

DSP Fumilayo Odunlami, an Ondo Police spokesman, said it was a case of suspected kidnapping because no ransom demand had been made.

“He left his house, saying he wanted to go shopping,” she explained. He went to a quarry in the neighbourhood.

“His vehicle was later seen in the middle of the road, and after those who saw the vehicle tried his line, his number did not go through.”

“Bullet shells were said to have been found where they saw his vehicle, so it’s a case of suspected kidnapping.”
