Gunmen Free Abducted Anglican Bishop, Wife, Driver
The gunmen who kidnapped the Bishop of the Anglican Communion Jebba Diocese in Kwara State, Rt. Rev Oluwaseun Aderogba, his wife, and driver have been released.
When their car developed a fault around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night along the Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway, gunmen kidnapped the couple and the driver.

On Tuesday night, the Oyo State Police Command confirmed the cleric’s and two others’ release.
In a statement, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said the three abducted people were released around 18:20 p.m.
Due to the massive deployment of police tactical teams to search for and rescue the victims, the gunmen were forced to release their captives, he said.
“The abducted Bishop Rt. Rev Aderogba Adeyinka of Jebba Anglican Diocese regained his freedom unharmed along with his wife and driver around 1820hours today, Tuesday 14/06/2022,” according to the police statement.
“The clergyman, his wife, and driver were abducted on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at approximately 2100HRS while travelling from Yewa, Ogun State to Jebba, Kwara State enroute an isolated area along the New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway after the victim’s vehicle developed mechanical fault.”

“The massive deployment of police personnel for the operation to rescue the victims, as well as the Police Tactical Teams’ dominance of the entire area, put pressure on the abductors to release the victims.”
“An investigation is underway to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”
