Barely 24 hours after the kidnap of family members of lawmakers in the Katsina State House Assembly, bandits have made fresh abductions in the state.

They raided Bakori Housing Units last night and kidnapped retired Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir and his 15-year-old daughter, Laila.

The bandits, who were armed with AK 47 rifles, also kidnapped three other residents.

According to sources, the victims’ homes were raided around 9 p.m.

Alhaji Bello Aminu Bakori, Shamsuddeen Aminu, and one Habibu Rabe of the Bakori Local Education Authority were among those kidnapped.

Vigilantes in the area mobilised and went after them less than an hour after they were kidnapped.

The armed men were reportedly apprehended by local guards in Danja Local Area, and three victims were said to have regained their freedom after an exchange of gunfire.

Abdulkadir and his daughter, on the other hand, are said to still be held captive.

In a new wave of insecurity sweeping the country, bandits have made life difficult for many.

Gunmen have broken into homes across Nigeria, from Abuja to Zamfara, Niger, and elsewhere, abducting their victims for millions of dollars.
