The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained Mr Okorocha at his Unity House private office in Abuja about 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to sources familiar with the matter.

After a five-hour standoff with EFCC operatives who had been following him to the venue, the former governor was arrested.
