Fire razes popular Bodija market in Ibadan

After hearing about the fire, many traders rushed to the area and observed the destruction of market shops.
The fire on Monday allegedly began in one of the market’s shops.
Romoke Ganiya Jelili, one of the impacted shopkeepers, claimed that the fire cost her more nearly N5 million.
Nigeria had catastrophic fire events between 2019 and 2021, which resulted in 79 fatalities out of the 68 fires that were registered in those 18 months.
The losses from 31 of them were caused by market fires, and they are still being calculated.
