Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari and his men may have escaped from the facility, according to sources.

On Tuesday night, gunmen attacked the facility with bombs and explosives.

Joshua Dariye, a former governor of the Plateau, and Jolly Nyame, a former governor of Taraba, both of whom had received pardons from the National Council of States, were also present.

At the time of the attacks, the Federal Government had not yet carried out their release.

According to insider information shared with The Nation, in addition to the high-profile inmates, some terrorists and other criminals may have escaped in the darkness and gunfire of the attackers.

There was, however, no official confirmation of the quantity and characteristics of the escapees at the time this report was filed.

According to a source, it would be challenging to confirm whether Kyari and his men left the area before the attackers entered the building.

He added that the former governors were similarly affected.

Both Mr. Humphrey Chukwuendo, the FCT’s junior officer, and Francis Enobore, the Nigerian Correctional Service’s public relations officer, could not be reached. Their cell phones were turned off.

Terrorists heavily bombarded the Kuje Medium Custodial Center on Tuesday night.

The attacks, which caught the facility’s guards off guard, completely disorganised the area.

The first explosion, a high-capacity bomb, reportedly went off at about 10.25 p.m.

According to some accounts, it was followed by a second and third blast as well as sporadic gunshots, sending the locals fleeing for cover.
