Court Upholds Reelection of Governor Akeredolu 

The Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the election of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the State of Ondo on Wednesday.

The Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the election of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the State of Ondo on Wednesday.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, delivering a decision, dismissed a suit questioning the legitimacy of the Governor’s emergence as the All Progressive Congress (APC) nominee in the primary election on July 20.

Olajumoke Anifowose, an APC aspirant in the poll, dismissed the suit filed by the presiding judge.

Nevertheless, the judge ruled that the appeal was statute-barred.

Ejes Gist Nigeria reports that after polling 292, 830 votes to beat his closest opponent, the PDP’s Eyitayo Jegede, who scored 195, 791 votes, Akeredolu was declared the winner of the Oct. 11, 2020 governorship election in the state.
