President Buhari has disclosed when his government will act on the Lagos EndSARS Panel Report.
President Muhammadu Buhari has finally responded to the report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel on the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in October 2020.
Soldiers and police officers were charged with the killing of unarmed #EndSARS protesters, according to the report, which has since gone viral. Human rights activists, government critics, and members of the international community have all urged the Nigerian government to act on the panel’s report.
During a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Buhari stated that the federal government will take up the report after Lagos state has completed its work on it.
“The federal government will let the system run its course and, as a result, will await statements from state governments that have established panels to investigate police brutality in the country.”
“So many state governments are involved, and the probe panels have different terms of reference,” presidential spokesman Femi Adesina quoted Buhari as saying.
