One of the Biafran National Guard who was said to have attacked troops at Amaekpu, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, was killed by troops participating in Exercise Golden Dawn in the South East.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, announced this in a statement on Friday.
The assailants, who were heavily armed and transported in several vehicles, opened fire on the troops’ location, according to Nwachukwu, but were met with stiff resistance by the troops.

The troops also recovered a pump-action gun, according to Army headquarters.
“While the criminals withdrew after being overwhelmed, troops from forwarding Operating Base Ohaozara in Ebonyi State intercepted them at Eda.”
“An additional three vehicles were recovered by the troops, and one of the gunmen was apprehended,” Nwachukwu said.
