PDP Crisis: Wike makes Shocking Allegation against Iyorchia Ayu, Asks Him to Deny and he’d Provide proof
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has made allegations that Iyorchia Ayu, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took money from a presidential candidate in Lagos State.
The PDP chieftain who was speaking on Friday issued a challenge to Ayu to refute the allegations, noting that he possesses evidence to support his position. Wike, on the other hand, chose not to disclose the identity of the person from whom Ayu had obtained the money.
Wike, who stated that he was in a great deal of pain because he was unable to win the presidential primary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and go on to compete against the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that the money that Ayu collected did not enter the account of the PDP.
He asked, “Will he deny the fact that he did not collect one billion naira from Lagos?” Yes, he is free to deny it, but I will still reveal the identity of the person who gave him the money.
“Not the government of Lagos state, but someone in the city of Lagos. In Lagos, he received the money that was given to him. He had a conversation with one of the candidates for the presidency and told him that he was unsure whether or not state governors would want to sponsor the party.
“Let Ayu say no, I will even call some of the businessmen and ask how the money was arranged in Lagos,” Wike said. “Let Ayu say no.”
That cash was not deposited into the account of the PDP. “But that is not the basis on which we are attacking Ayu,” Wike stated during an interview that aired on Channels on Friday.
Wike emphasized the fact that he has a positive relationship with the party, and explained that this is the reason why he is working to ensure that candidates who emerge in his state win in the general elections in 2023.
Wike stated that the issue as it stands today is that there shall be zoning of party offices and elective offices as it is provided in the constitution of the party. This was said in reference to the call for Ayu’s resignation.
It has been made abundantly clear what ought to be and what ought to be done. People now working within the system are manipulating events and refusing to reveal the truth to the public.
