The order was issued by Edem Kooffreh, the presiding judge, on Friday, while ruling on Enang Wani’s motion ex parte, HC/240/2021.

Secondus was barred from presiding over any party meeting until the motion was heard by the court.

“An order of interim injunction prohibiting the first defendant (Secondus) from presiding over the 2nd Defendant’s national executive committee meeting on Saturday, August 28, 2012, or any subsequent meeting of the second defendant’s national executive committee, as well as from presiding over any meeting of any organ of the second defendant or attending any of such meetings.

The PDP was also barred from recognising or granting Secondus the powers that come with the position of national chairman, according to the court.

The ruling states, “An order of interim injunction prohibiting the second defendant, its members, officers, and agents from recognising the first defendant as its national chairman or from accord[ing] him any of the powers, rights, or privileges due to the holder of the office of the 2 Defendant’s National Chairman pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.”

The notice of the ruling must also be served on the parties by “pasting at the entrance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Plot 1970, Michael Okpara Street, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, and by publication in two (2) national newspapers in Nigeria,” according to Kooffreh.

The crisis that has engulfed the PDP is far from over, as multiple court rulings have thwarted the party’s efforts to reach an agreement.

On Monday, a high court in Rivers state issued an interim order prohibiting Secondus from claiming to be the party’s national chairman.

On Thursday, the party named Yemi Akinwonmi, the PDP’s deputy national chairman for the south, as the acting chairman.

A Kebbi state high court, however, ordered Secondus’ return as the party’s national chairman just hours later.
