Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne, two civilians charged with suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari and four other police officers, have pleaded guilty to importing 21.35 kilogrammes of cocaine.
When the charge was read to Umeibe and Ezenwanne, who are charged in counts five, six, and seven of the eight-count charge, they pleaded guilty.
While pleading guilty, Umeibe also pleaded for mercy from the court.
DCP Abba Kyari, ACP Sunday J. Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirgba, and Inspector John Nuhu, among the other defendants in the case, pleaded not guilty to counts one, two, three, four, and eight.
