Seven Nigerian Navy officers have been kidnapped in Edo State.

The security personnel were kidnapped while travelling from Kaduna to Delta.

Five naval officers were rescued by the police, according to the Daily Trust.

On the Sapele-Warri road, officers from a Naval Base in Kaduna state are said to have been kidnapped.

According to a source, they were on their way to Navy Engineering College in Sapele, Delta State.

Five of the officers were rescued by policemen from the Edo State Command, according to reports, while two others are still missing.

SP. Kotongs Bello, a spokesperson for the State Command, confirmed the report but did not elaborate.

“We rescued five people, and two more are still waiting to be rescued. That’s the only one I’m aware of,” he explained.

Nigeria is currently experiencing a high level of insecurity, with security personnel not being spared.
