Bonny Local Government Chairman Dies barely four months into second term.
David Irimagha, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area in Rivers State, died just days after marking the 100th day of his second term in office.
Following the unofficial sad report, the people of the LGA have been in mourning for Irimagha’s untimely death.
According to reports, the council chairman died Saturday at an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt.
There was no official confirmation from his family, the Bonny Local Government Council, or his party, the People’s Democratic Party, according to community sources (PDP).
Irimagha was said to have been sick for a long time and had been complaining about not feeling well.
‘We hear his lungs were rupturing and he went into a coma and later gave up the ghost around midnight,’ said a source who did not want to be identified in print.
Another source claimed it was due to COVID-19 complications, claiming he was diagnosed and treated for the infection, but then fell into a coma and died.
David Irimagha, a former leader of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, was re-elected for a second term on Saturday, April 17, and sworn in by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike at Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday, June 17.
