The Abolongo Correctional Facility in Oyo town, Oyo State, suffered an explosion on Tuesday, just four days after it was attacked by gunmen suspected of being bandits.
According to reports, the explosion that caused panic among residents occurred outside the prison facility.

The bomb that exploded was one of the bombs planted by the gunmen during the Friday attack that refused to detonate.
However, no injuries have been reported, and security personnel have been dispatched to the scene to assess the damage.

According to reports, the gunmen detonated explosives at the facility around 10.30 p.m., freeing the inmates.
The incident that occurred was said to have resulted in the faculty’s inmates fleeing.
A total of 837 inmates were said to have escaped after heavily armed men attacked the correctional centre with explosives, according to reports.
However, security operatives have recaptured over 400 of the fleeing prisoners.
