Oil nears $140, highest since 2008 as NNPC announces 21 pipelines vandalised.
Oil prices continued to rise on Monday morning, reaching $140, the highest level since Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s presidency.
Brent was trading as high as $139.13 per barrel at 5 a.m., according to Reuters data, before falling to $127 per barrel.
Similarly, the U.S. oil benchmark, West Texas Intermediate crude futures, jumped to $12605 per barrel.
Oil prices have risen to their highest level since July 2008, as the United States and its allies consider banning Russian oil imports, a move that would “further isolate Russia from the global economy.”
