Nigerian banks grow combined profit by N120bn, despite threats from Fintechs.
Despite competition from financial technology companies, ten Nigerian banks managed to post a combined profit after tax of N741.7 billion in 2021.
When compared to the N620.7 billion profit recorded in 2020, the profit for 2021 is up 19 percent, or N120 billion, according to data from the bank’s financial statements posted on the Nigerian Exchange.
Eco Bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Fidelity Bank, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO), and Jaiz Bank were among the banks surveyed.
Zenith Bank, Wema, Unity, United Bank for Africa (UBA), and Sterling Bank are just a few of the others.
