Benin-Warri Road: Student Union Gives Buhari Govt 21-Day Ultimatum

The National Association Of Polytechnic Students , NAPS has given the Federal Government a 21- day ultimatum to mobilize the Federal Road Maintenance Agency FERMA to Commence work immediately on the Benin-Sapele-Warri Road which has been a menace to road users for a long time now.

This was contained in a statement by the National Vice President of NAPS, Comrade Adogbeji Blessing, the body noted  that for over a year, the road had been a death trap to Commuters and other road users most especially Nigeria Students.

“According to  records, for over six months now the road has killed over 100 persons and damaged cars worth millions of Naira”, he said.

Comrade Adogbeji, therefore, maintained that if the Federal Government fails to mobilize FERMA or other Road Construction Company for the maintenance of the Benin-Warri road within 21 days, “NAPS will mobilize her Rank and files in a protest that will shut down economic activities within the Benin – Warri metropolis.

“Over 100,000 harmless battalion of Nigeria Students will hit the streets for the protest if the Federal Government fails to meet our demands”, he added.

He urged President Buhari to sit up to his responsibilities and provide social/basic amenities for Nigerians, such as good roads, electricity and qualitative Education.

The NAPS Vice President said this summer season was the right time to do any road maintenance work and appealed to Federal Government not to dare the wrath of Nigeria Students.
