Ben Alaiya former Super Eagles Official is Dead
- Alaiya, until his death, was the Editor-in-Chief of SportsDay Newspapers.
Ben Alaiya a former Press Officer for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles is dead.
It is understood that the sports journalist died in his village in Benin, Edo State, which is located in the south-south region of Nigeria.

Aloy Chukwuemeka, the Director of Football at the Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin campus, expressed his shock and pain over Alaiya’s death on his well-known Facebook page on Wednesday. “May the soul of this gentleman rest in peace.”

Arabi Rotimi, a sports writer, paid tribute to Alaiya on his Facebook page as well. ‘It’s hard to believe that a senior colleague (former sports editor of the Daily Independent, former media officer of the Super Eagles, and a member of the Sportsday newspaper’s executive management team) has passed away,’ Rotimi wrote on Facebook. “Rip Ever smiling boss,” says Rip.
Ben Alaiya was born on December 9, 1968, in Ososo, Edo State, and graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a degree in English Language. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in mass communication from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ).
As of the time of publication of this report, the cause of his death, as well as the exact date of his death, were still unknown.
