In a letter to the governors, Akintoye, the leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, the umbrella body for Yoruba self-determination parties, warned them that terrorists were ready to strike at any moment.

Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, his media aide, said this in a statement released on Wednesday.

He urged the government to take steps to thwart the criminals’ expected attacks, noting that the hoodlums had perfected plans to target key locations in order to destabilise the region’s economy.

In the declaration, Akintoye also advised Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners’ Chapel, and other church and Islamic leaders to defend their churches and mosques from attack.

He also urged Yoruba youths to be more proactive in order to deter terrorists from entering the area.

“A group of Fulani terrorists, Boko Haram, and ISIS have invaded Niger State, which is immediately north of Yorubaland, allowing them very easy access into Yorubaland via the Yoruba sections of Kwara and Kogi states,” Akinyoye said.

“Then, only recently, the US announced that ISIS had invaded Southern Nigeria from the sea, implying that ISIS had infiltrated the coasts of Lagos, Ogun, and Ondo states.

“As a result, our situation has become dire, necessitating desperate measures from our state governors. I feel compelled to devote a significant amount of time to researching the vicissitudes of our Yoruba nation in these trying times, and as a result of my research, I am issuing an informed warning to the governors of our states.

“I humbly and passionately encourage our governors to band together to respond to the imminent danger that threatens to engulf Yorubaland in the coming days.

“It is well known that these international terrorist organisations’ signature move is to kill popular properties of the society they target first. This may mean that major public and private structures in Lagos and Ibadan, including the highly symbolic Cocoa House in Ibadan, will be targeted first.

“In Yorubaland, owners and custodians of significant edifices are strongly advised to provide formidable protection for their edifices.

Bridges, significant public and private structures, churches and eminent church estates such as the Redeemed, Winners, Deeper Life, Mountain of Fire Church camps and the special Synagogue building of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, as well as our most prestigious central mosque buildings in Lagos, Ibadan, and other cities.”
