My disagreement with Tinubu in 2007 was over Muslim-Muslim ticket, says Atiku
Atiku Abubakar, a candidate for president on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, has stated that the 2007 Muslim-Muslim ticket was the main point of contention between him and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a candidate for president on the platform of the incumbent All Progressives Party (APC).
The Muslim-Muslim ticket put out by the APC, according to Atiku, is “unwelcoming and unripe for Nigeria as a democratic state.”
This claim was made by him on Friday in an interview with Arise TV monitored by our correspondent.
“I have always opposed the Muslim-Muslim ticket,” Atiku declared. Nigeria is not yet ready, there ought to be harmony.
In the meantime, the PDP candidate stated certainty that he will defeat Tinubu of the APC in 2023.
The suggestion that Kashim Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate will harm Atiku’s chances of winning the North-East in the 2023 presidential election was rejected by Atiku.
Recall that the Muslim-Muslim ticket put out by the APC drew criticism for not accurately reflecting the diversity of the Nigerian country.
APC youths and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have criticized the unified Muslim-Muslim ticket.
