In accordance with the agreement reached during the renegotiation of the 2009 Agreement, the Federal Government has approved an additional N100 billion for the university sector.
Additionally, it was agreed that the university-based unions could split N50 billion in earned allowances.
Although ASUU declared on Thursday that it would not end its strike until the members’ salary arrears were paid.
In addition, the university lecturers declared that if the Federal Government did not pay for the “period of strike,” they would not resume teaching to make up for the six months they had been on strike.
ASUU has been in talks with the federal government recently, which typically result in stalemate.
Yesterday, there were hints that ASUU might think about calling off the strike.
The union will convene the following Monday to discuss the FG offers and potential solutions.
