APC won’t get 25 per cent votes in states, Atiku Boasts
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has projected that the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) will not receive the required 25% of votes in states controlled by the PDP in the 2023 presidential election.
He addressed the party’s governorship candidates who obtained their Certificates of Return at the party’s national secretariat.

“The question of saying we’re going to give the ruling party a quarter or so in this election must not arise,” he stated.
“I want to reassure you all that we will work as a team to ensure that you are all re-elected governors in your various states.”
“I will make certain that we work as a team in every state of this country to enthrone a PDP government,” he said.
Ladi Adebutu, the PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, addressed on behalf of the candidates and promised to beat Governor Dapo Abiodun, who is seeking re-election on the APC platform.
“We realize the trip would be lengthy,” Adebutu remarked.
We still have a long way to go, but we are unconcerned about the challenges ahead because we are motivated by the desire to free our people from the shackles of misgovernance.
“We see this as an opportunity to work even harder, and we are grateful to our people and our party for providing us with this platform.”
The PDP has given us the chance to move forward and save our state.”
Adebutu advised his fellow PDP candidates to reach out to enraged party leaders in their states, particularly those who were beaten in the primaries.
“It is now an obligation for all parties to go forward and reconcile, and I can guarantee you that we have already begun that duty,” he said.
“We will continue to contact anyone who believe they have a grievance.” I am confident that with time, we will be completely reconciled, and we will extend our hands of friendship outside the party, making it an inter-party affair.
“We can even see our brothers from other parties attempting to join our party right now, and I am confident that we will welcome them after their convention.”

Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman, expressed confidence that the party will keep all 13 states it currently governs.
“The majority of them performed quite well,” he remarked. We have no concerns that the people will vote them back into office, or that they will vote our candidates into office in places where we do not have governors.
“People have seen the APC-led administration’s ineptitude and incapacity from the governorship level to the presidency, and I am confident that by next year, people will be voting PDP, so we are also confident that we will capture the majority of states.”
Twenty-six of the twenty-eight candidates turned up to pick up their return certificates.
The remaining two states, Ebonyi and Kano, have outstanding difficulties with their candidacy, according to the chairman.
