The APC has fired the party’s press secretary for congratulating Charles Soludo on his victory in the recently concluded Anambra governorship election.
APC officials in Anambra State have fired their public secretary, Mr. Okelo Madukaife, for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities, which included congratulating the winner of the recently concluded governorship election, Professor Charles Soludo.
APC Sacks Publicity Secretary
Mr. Basil Ejidike, the party’s state chairman, made the announcement during a news event in Awka on Tuesday. He stated that Okelo was suspended from the APC in June of this year and that he consequently has no justification for posing as an official of the party.
However, the struggling press secretary claimed that the chairman is acting on his own and that he has been carrying out his responsibilities as the party’s spokesman.
According to the party chairman, Okelo has continued to present himself to the public in his capacity as publicity secretary, even going so far as to appear on national television to congratulate Prof Chukwuma Soludo on his victory in the governorship election while the party hierarchy was still deliberating over the outcome of the election.

He noted that after a panel ruled him guilty, Okelo did not file a legal appeal to his suspension.
” Kelo was suspended in June of this year, according to Ejidike. The fact that someone who had been suspended from the party went on the TV and claimed to be speaking on behalf of the party causes us to be concerned. We believe that a scenario like this should not be permitted.
“If you’re not with the party, you’re not with it,” says the leader. You are not allowed to be out of the party while yet speaking on behalf of the party.
The APC and its leadership have been the target of Okelo’s vitriol since June 2021. To set the record right, he has been absent from all-party meetings and events since.
“His suspension came as a result of his indictment for his participation in anti-party activities.”
He has now been replaced by Mr. Nonso Chinwuba, the state assistant publicity secretary, in accordance with the party’s constitution,” the statement continued.
In light of this, the party requests that the general public, and the media, in particular, refrain from dealing with him in the capacity of APC agent. As things are, Okelo Madukaife is not a member of the All Progressives Congress.
Mr. Okelo Madukaife, the suspended publicity secretary of the APC in Anambra State, made statements that were not representative of the party’s position in the state, and I would want to state that on behalf of the APC.
As far as the Anambra governorship election is concerned, we wish to clarify unequivocally that we have not congratulated anyone since the party is still studying the circumstances with a view to approaching the court to dispute the election.”
Ejidike reminded the audience that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, and the Director General of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Chief George Moghalu, both of whom are chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in the state, had already congratulated Soludo, and that they had done so as individuals and not as representatives of the party.
Upon being contacted by phone, Madukaife stated that he was still the state’s publicity secretary at that time.
The governor stated that he was “continuing to perform admirably” in his role as the state’s publicity secretary for his political party.
“No one will be able to purchase our party.” In accordance with our chapter’s policy, there were no governorship primaries in Anambra in 2014. This position remains firm, immovable, and unwavering. It is the fact that has been ingrained in the brains of all APC members throughout the state of California.
“Ejidike is on his right now. A sellout, as revealed by the entire chapter; we have been managing him for the benefit of our reputation.”
