The has lost a polling unit in Kaduna State Governor’s polling unit to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Governor El Rufai’s polling unit, 01, in Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna North Local Area, was won by the by 24 votes.

The APC received 62 votes, while the PDP received 86 votes, according to Presiding Officer Muhammad Sani, who announced the results at the end of the voting.

The total number of votes cast for the chairmanship position, he said, was 159.

For the Councilorship position, the PDP was also 100 votes ahead of the ruling APC.

Before Saturday’s election, the governor expressed confidence in the voting process, saying that the outcome should be acceptable to all parties involved because rigging was nearly impossible.

For fear of attack, KAD-SIECOM had postponed elections in four local elections: Kajuru, Birnin Gwari, Zagon Kataf, and Chikun, which were scheduled to take place on Saturday.


PDP wins LG Chairmanship Seat, 9 Councilorship Seats In 

In the recently concluded Council elections, Mathias Siman, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won the chairmanship seat in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Prof. Mande Hosea, the Returning Officer, declared Siman the winner of the election in Manchok on Sunday, after he received 19,505 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Mr Adamu Donatus of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 10,942 votes.

“We acknowledged that voting was not possible in some polling units due to malfunctioning electronic voting machines.

However, the rule states that a result can be declared if the total number of votes cast is less than two-thirds, and the total number of votes cast so far is greater than two-thirds.

“As a result, Mr Mathias Siman of the PDP is hereby declared winner of the election, and returned elected,” he said.

In the Local Government Area, the PDP also won nine out of ten electoral wards for councillor seats, with the APC winning only Manchok Ward.
