APC expels former chairman, 6 others

The APC has expelled its former chairman and six other members.

Mr Ben Nwoye, the former Chairman of the ’s Enugu State Chapter, has been expelled from the party for alleged anti-party activities.

Six other members of the party were also kicked out.

According to the report, Nwoye conspired with others to break into the party’s store and steal property and sensitive documents.

It went on to say that the other five members took to court without first using the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.

The party made the announcement in a communique issued after an expanded meeting of its state executive committee and senatorial district committee on Wednesday in Enugu.

The party claimed that Nwoye was expelled for criminal conversion of its property and portraying the party in a negative light in a communique signed by the state APC Secretary, Mr Robert Ngwu.

“While on suspension from the National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Nwoye conspired with some elements to illegally break into the party’s store and unlawfully take away properties and sensitive documents belonging to the party.”

“All attempts to recover the properties and documents in a peaceful manner failed.

“As a result, our legal team has written to the national and zonal executive committees to assist the state chapter in recovering the party’s properties, citing the critical requirements of the Electoral Law.”

“Group Captain. Orji, Mr Kingsley Uduji, Mr Joseph Orji, Mr Chidera Obed, Mr Ododoeze Ocho, and Mr Chukwudi Igwe are hereby expelled from the party for filing a court action without exhausting avenues for redress as provided in the party’s constitution,” the party said.

The affected members had previously been suspended, according to the statement, and the expulsion was carried out in accordance with APC rules.
