Dahiru Maishanu Yabo, a founding member of the in Sokoto State, has defected to the ahead of the 2023 general elections (PDP).

Yabo, a former commissioner for information and solid minerals in the state, was welcomed on Thursday at Government House, Sokoto, by Governor Aminu Tambuwal, his deputy, Manir Muhammed Dan Iya, the state PDP chairman, Alhaji Bello Muhammad, and other government officials.

Yabo said that the APC in Sokoto “has formed a cabal, of which you must be a member in order to have anything to do with the party or to be involved in the progress of the nation or the state.”

He went on to explain that he left the APC because it lacks internal democracy and is well known for favoritism and bootlicking.

By God’s help, he continued, “we’re going to back Team Tambuwal, the PDP candidate for governor in the state, as well as all other PDP candidates in the state, and even beyond, at the Presidency.

We’re prepared. We possess the power. We are able to join the PDP at the national level thanks to our strength and resources.

He claimed that as a former Commissioner, in addition to his army of fans and grassroots appeal in the state’s Yabo and Shagari local government districts, he had statewide influence.

He added, “I have been actively involved in the politics of the APC as well as in government.

In Sokoto state, there has been a recent wave of high-profile political figures defecting from the APC to the PDP.

This enormous flight has a number of causes, most of which are directed at Sadiq Achida, the APC chairman in Sokoto State, and his alleged inner caucus members.
