APC Breaks Silence as Babachir Lawal Claims Peter Obi Won the 2023 Presidential Election
APC Slams Babachir Lawal for Claiming Obi Won 2023 Presidential Election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, for his recent assertion that Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), emerged as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, contradicting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Bola Tinubu as the victor.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, condemned Lawal’s claims as “incoherent aspersions” cast on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the high office he holds. Morka expressed that Lawal’s statements revealed a disconnection from reality, particularly when he mistakenly stated that the election took place in May 2023 rather than in February.
Morka challenged Lawal to provide a detailed breakdown of the so-called “aggregated facts sourced from independent sources” that supposedly proved Obi’s victory, or else refrain from making such claims.

Morka also accused Lawal of offering uninformed commentary on a matter currently before the Supreme Court, labeling it as a display of irresponsibility. He argued that Lawal’s assertion that the “band of appointees that Bola is assembling into his government don’t care about Nigeria” indicated his lingering bitterness and vindictiveness over his failed attempt to run on a joint ticket with Tinubu. Morka recommended professional counseling for Lawal, deeming him a “lightweight politician” who mistakenly considered himself a “heavyweight.”
Furthermore, Morka pointed out Lawal’s political shortcomings, emphasizing his failure as a politician in his home state of Adamawa. He suggested that Lawal should concentrate on managing his farm instead of becoming an unnecessary distraction.
It should be noted that Babachir Lawal’s recent claim declared Peter Obi as the victor of the 2023 presidential election, asserting that Tinubu recognized he would not succeed in a free and fair contest and therefore opted for any means necessary to secure victory. Lawal contended that Tinubu’s performance in the election placed him a distant third in the number of votes received and urged him to resign to spare himself from public humiliation and the “unfolding deluge of uncomplimentary information about who or what he actually is.
