The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested a suspected vote-buyer in on Saturday as the governorship election got underway.

As he was “inducing voters,” EFCC operatives apprehended the suspect with a bag of cash.

The suspect was apprehended at Ola Oluwa Grammar School on Ilawe Road in Ado Ekiti, and is said to be a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

In the run-up to the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, issued a warning to voters.

INEC had warned that rules prohibiting cash inducement of voters would be strictly enforced.

Meanwhile, Hon Biodun Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the ongoing gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, has expressed confidence in winning the hotly contested election.

 

 

After voting at Okelele ward 06 unit 003 in Ikogosi Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oyebanji spoke in Ikogosi Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, his wife, accompanied him to the unit.

He praised the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, for making the electoral process faster and more credible by introducing the Bimodal Voter Authentication System technology.

He praised voters for turning out in large numbers to vote, claiming there was no evidence of voter apathy based on reports he had received from across the 177 wards.

“This is a step forward, and I am confident that I will win.” I’m relieved that there was no apathy. The security build-up has also been impressive, indicating that the process has gone smoothly.

 

“I’m coming with a change agenda, and my manifesto lays out the changes I’m proposing,” he explained.
