Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State announced his candidacy for the 2023 Presidential Election on Tuesday, Ejes Gist Newspaper can report.

Ben Ayade, like APC National Leader Bola Tinubu and Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, met with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors in Abuja and reportedly informed the Nigerian leader of his presidential ambitions.

About seven weeks before the deadline for submitting candidate lists to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for next year’s General Election, the ruling party has yet to decide on two nagging issues that could shape the presidential race: where will the APC’s presidential candidates come from, and how will they be nominated.
