Angry Mob Beats Suspected Armed Robber to Death in Delta

Angry mob have reportedly beaten a suspected armed robber to death after an attempt to rob a victim simply, identified as Atarhe, of his SUV failed.

The act occurred at Aroh road in Ughelli Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Another member of the armed robbery gang quickly escaped from the scene when he sensed danger.

The angry mob also placed a cut-to-size double barreled gun the suspect came with for the operation on his chest.

The incident occurred late Thursday, DAILY POST reports.

It was learnt that the two-man armed robbery gang were given a hot chase by residents of the area.

In the process, the deceased suspect was apprehended, seriously beaten and wounded before the arrival of policemen at the scene.

The deceased was being rushed to the hospital for medical treatment by the police, but died on the way.

When contacted for comments, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the report in a telephone chat with our Correspondent in Warri.

The State Police boss said, “Two suspected armed robbers went to rob. On the way, one was caught by angry mob.

“Policemen came and met him seriously beaten and injured. So, they took him to hospital. On the way, the armed robbery suspect died. We are on the trail of the second suspect. It is true that he was caught with a cut to size double barreled gun. It is a good riddance to bad rubbish.”
