Amaechi to draw plans to link Seaports and rail
President Muhammadu Buhari has asked Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, to consult and submit a memorandum to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to connect the Lekki Deep Sea Port to the railway network.
During his business visit to Lagos State, the President gave the command after visiting the deep seaport project and applauding the Minister’s efforts to make the project a reality.

Mallam Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, issued a statement containing the President’s directive.
The President visited the progress of work at Nigeria’s first deep sea port, which is located in the Lagos Free Zone, 65 kilometres east of Lagos, as part of his visit to Lagos.
During the inspection, the President was given guarantees that the port, which has a 45-year concession and covers a land area of 90 hectares, will be completed on time by September.
