Aisha Yesufu, a well-known commentator on Nigerian affairs, ridiculed on Monday after the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate refused to say what he knew about the Boko Haram insurgency.

While acknowledging that dozens of the girls kidnapped from their school in Chibok, Borno state, had been named in a video released by Boko Haram in May of that same year, the then governor claimed there was little a governor could do.

Shettima had earlier in the same year claimed that Boko Haram insurgents were more powerful than the Nigerian Army, a claim that infuriated Goodluck Jonathan, the president at the time.

A twitter and a supporter of the APC vice presidential candidate, stated that Shettima has “always spoken the truth” about the insurgency problem, claimed Shettima’s desire to become vice president will give him the opportunity to put an end to these issues.

In response, Aisha Yesufu stated “In fact, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was furious when Shettima warned that Boko Haram was better equipped than the military, something many Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members had forgotten.

What about the heads Shettima (the speaker) claimed would roll if he spoke? More than his people (in Borno State), he feared the heads.
