Adedeji Adeleke, Davido’s Father, to Launch Nigeria’s Largest Power Plant
Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star Davido and a renowned billionaire industrialist, is preparing to launch Nigeria’s largest power plant.
The thermal power plant, with a capacity of 1,250 megawatts (MW), will be the biggest in the country and is valued at $2 billion.
This monumental project further solidifies Adeleke’s impact on Nigeria’s energy sector, where his company, Pacific Energy, already generates 15% of the nation’s electricity.

During the Seventh Day Adventist General Conference Annual Council on October 15, 2024, Adedeji Adeleke shared the struggles he faced in getting environmental permits for the power plant.
Despite facing resistance from government officials, one of whom told him the project would never succeed, Adeleke turned to prayer for guidance and pressed on.
Davido’s father also highlighted the involvement of Chinese engineering firms in the construction of the power plant, continuing his practice of working with international partners on energy projects.
Adedeji Adeleke first mentioned the power plant at Adeleke University’s 9th graduation ceremony in July 2023. Located in a village in Ondo State, the project has already provided employment to over 1,000 locals.

Unfortunately, the project faced a delay when looters stole turbine components worth $5 million, causing setbacks. Despite this, Adeleke proudly announced that the power plant is nearing completion.
This new power plant is set to boost Nigeria’s power supply significantly, and with Adedeji Adeleke’s continued efforts in the energy sector, the country is poised to benefit from more reliable electricity.
