of the All Progressives Congress (APC)has won the governorship primary election in Adamawa State. She won the ticket over five other competitors, all of whom were men.

On Friday, Gambo Lawal, the Chairman of the APC Adamawa State Electoral Committee, announced the results.

According to the poll’s Presiding Officer, she received 430 votes, beating out Nuhu Ribadu, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who received 288 votes.

With 103 votes, the former governor came in third. Namdas received 94 votes, Theman 21 votes, and Umar Mustapha 39 votes, according to a breakdown of the results. The exercise yielded 36 invalid votes.

The primary began at about 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Lamido Cinema in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, with the accreditation of delegates. However, voting began at midnight and continued until Friday morning, when sorting and counting began.

With her victory on Friday, the Senator, who represents Adamawa Central in the upper legislative chamber, becomes the state’s first female governorship candidate from a major political party. She is also Nigeria’s second female flag bearer of a major political party.

Aisha Alhassan, the late former Minister of Women Affairs, was the other person to accomplish this feat when she became the APC governorship flag bearer in Taraba State in 2015. Governor Darius Ishaku, on the other hand, defeated her.

The former minister lost her case in which she challenged Ishaku’s victory to the Supreme Court.

Senator Binani’s victory is a major upset and a win for the country’s women. She will be attempting to become Nigeria’s first elected female governor. Binani is the first woman to campaign for a major political party in the upcoming election so far.

In her victory speech, the 50-year-old thanked the committee for running a successful primary and promised to work with those who ran against her.

Some of the agents praised the election committee for peacefully conducting the election. The other candidates accepted the outcome and promised to work together to ensure that the APC wins the governorship election next year.

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Federal Government and the leader of the APC in Adamawa, arrived at the event venue minutes after the results were announced. He congratulated the APC on holding a free, fair, and transparent primary election.
