In the video released on Monday, a bandit who gave his name as Gogo Kide, describing himself as being behind many school abductions in the past, said they were willing to release the remaining students and their teachers on the condition that security agencies release their men earlier captured prior and after the kidnap.

Kide maintained that if their members are not released, they will be forced to kill the detainees since they have nothing to lose.

He reportedly advised Atiku Bagudu, the governor of Kebbi State, from sending local hunters after them, saying that there would be many casualties, and instead to play a mediation role in getting his troops released so that the pupils and their professors could be liberated as well.

The pressure from security agencies since the abduction, according to Kide’s tone in the short video, must have pressed the bandits’ hands, as they are too willing to come to an agreement.

According to reports from Kebbi, the police, Army, Air Force, local hunters, and vigilante groups have all joined forces to search the forests for the bandits since the abduction in which a mobile police officer was killed alongside a student who was shot dead by the bandits.

The combined activities have so far resulted in the rescue of some of the prisoners, as well as the killing of some bandits, and it is thought that the heat has pushed the crooks to change their methods of demanding a large ransom from the victims.
